Meet Alexa: Associate Board Chair

The Bridge is fortunate to have invested volunteers in many capacities at our agency. Alexa came to The Bridge and brought fresh new views and ideas to our Associate Board. As a natural leader, Alexa made a positive impact on the group right away and went on to become the Associate Board Chair.

Meet Alexa McNish, Chair of our Associate Board. Alexa has been involved for just under 3 years and has been a valuable influence on the Board and our agency. Initially motivated because it was close to home, Alexa recalls, “When I called to ask for information about The Bridge, the person on the phone was extremely nice. She was already thanking me for just thinking of volunteering. There are a lot of great agencies out there, but the feeling I get from The Bridge is indescribable.”

When asked what moved her to volunteer in her community, she stated, “I want to help the people in this world who don’t think they are strong enough to get out or move on from the pain. I know how it feels to think this is the life you deserve and the pain will never end. I also volunteer at Wings, a domestic violence shelter. I have experienced domestic abuse in my own life and I am blessed to be out of those relationships and able to help others.”

One of things she enjoys most about volunteering with The Bridge is the connections. When she first got involved, she was only considering what she could give back to the kids. “I didn’t think about what The Bridge could give back to me. It is a fun place to volunteer and knowing the work I am doing is having an impact on the next generation is very rewarding. The work that The Bridge does inspires me to stay involved. We raise money so they can do what they do and help kids. I like giving back to my community.”

Thank you, Alexa, for all that you do for The Bridge! We are very lucky to have you as a dedicated volunteer and advocate and appreciate your dedication, time, and effort in supporting our organization.
